Joe DeShazo
During Joe's early years, he always wanted to participate in some type of art, but the opportunity never presented itself. When Joe was in his 40's, having talked about wanting to take an art class so much, his wife, Robbie, said "do something or quit talking about it". Joe signed up for his first workshop in oil with Clarence Kincaid. An acrylics workshop with James Ivey Edwards followed. Joe spent two years driving to Amarillo in the 70's once a week to learn all that he could about painting. Running a heating/air-conditioning business and raising three boys put painting on the "back-burner" for awhile. Retirement gave Joe time to pick up is brushes again. He enjoys working with acrylics most. Retirement has allowed travel with his wife and a camera...he finds a lot of subject matter to photograph that provides ideas for paintings.
